This department is committed to the vision and mission of the Dominica State College to provide and deliver high quality education in an environment conducive to lifelong learning and the department is committed to improving the quality of life of the members of the communities it serves.
The Department, with its office located at the Stock Farm campus, was established in October, 2002 to promote lifelong learning by providing high quality educational opportunities for a largely non-traditional student population including full-time, day-time employees in the private and public sectors. The Department is committed to offering flexible programmes that can be tailored to meet individual and organizational needs. CLASS TIMES AND PLACES
Classes are usually held from 5:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. However, we are flexible and willing to make alternative arrangements both for time and place to accommodate students’ varying needs.
The Associate Degree Programmes are at least 60 credits in total with about 20 courses. Normally, a student in the evening programme does nine to 12 credits in each semester, which is 13 weeks long. Students, therefore, could complete an Associate Degree in two and a half years.
The certificate programmes are at least 30 credits and may be completed in one year.
The short special courses are of varying lengths from two hours to eight weeks.
All of the programmes and courses offered in the Department of Continuing Education are designed to prepare students for life in terms of both career and personal development. The nature of our courses ensures that students are prepared for the real world of work.In addition to improving our students chances for success, promotion and recognition in their existing workplaces, our courses/programmes develop our students potential for undertaking higher level education.
Courses in the Associate Degree and Certificate programmes are $250.00 each for tuition. Special short courses range from $200.00 upwards. But the College reserves the right to revise these fees, when the need arises.
